Patricia M-Music
"For more than 50 years I have been searching for my own unified field theory, making quilts and costumes, dolls and ceramic sculpture, drawings and collages. They are dialogues between hands and materials, between inner and outer, speaking in color and pattern, in shape and juxtaposition. They are visual languages that allow me to speak of what cannot be spoken in words. At one point I traveled extensively, and always brought back items made by women in other countries, other cultures, especially cloth, costumes and beads."

The feminine by nature is plural and so is my work. She appears in many guises and mediums. Some are from mythology, some from poetry, from religions, and from the Muse Herself - a surprise gift, a mystery. All are Faces of the Great Mother.
The number Thirteen has negative associations today - such as Friday the 13th, or tall buildings with no number 13th floor. But Thirteen has a much more ancient meaning - one of Transformation.
When the 12 months of our calendar year have finished their cycle, they begin again...but, the new month is the 13th in this archaic system because it is further along on the Spiral of Time.
This book contains thirteen of my quilts in honor of this cycle.
